(Senior) Accountant

·        POSITION SUMMARY

Based in Ghent, this position will be responsible for the preparation, review, analysis and financial reporting of the Benelux subsidiary.

He/she will deliver advisory on financial issues including profit improvement, cost control and process improvements.

He/she will be the interface between the subsidiary and the FD (based in UK) and the regional management (based in Germany).

·        DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Financial Operations Management
        • Financial Controlling (daily accounting and review of sales, purchase, nominal entries, oversee the operation of control accounts and reconcile balance sheet accounts)
        • Financial Closing 
        • Budget/ Forecasting
        • Annual Reports
        • AdHoc Reporting
        • Finance IT Systems
        • Monthly & quarterly reporting and consolidation
  •  Interface with the  Regional Headquarters
        • Management Accounts. Responsibility for the timely preparation and interpretation of the subsidiaries' monthly reporting and quarterly statutory reports to HQ in compliance with IFRS.
        • Reporting & Communication. Regularly report on all issues to the Finance Director. Be proactive and alert them about any problems or material variance to budget or forecast

·        POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of effective methods of organizing and implementing accounting, budgeting, financial reporting and procurement functions.
  • Knowledge of the IFRS regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problems solving skills including ability to resolve complex budgeting and financial issues and review and comprehend statistical data and financial reports.
  • Ability to support the development and implementation of internal financial controls, policies and procedures affecting company performance
  • A thorough knowledge of cross-functional processes and operations.
  • Strong (internal) customer service orientation.
  • Ability to present information in a clear and synthetic way.
  • Both proactive and professional in his/her approach and be able to demonstrate strong intellectual ability.

·        EDUCATIOn and experience

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in controlling, preferably in a listed company
  • Fluent in English and Deutsch, French will be a plus.
