Team Manager - Software

 

 

 

  1. GENERAL MISSION / PURPOSE

 

Under the responsibility of the Research & Development Line Manager, the Team Manager leads several agile teams within Research & Development in a local or international context. In collaboration with the Solution Architect(s), their missions include:

  • Hierarchical management of agile teams,
  • Ensuring the technical and functional performance of the teams,
  • Ensuring the dynamics of continuous improvement within their organization, in line with the company's strategy and HR policy.
 
   

 

 

 

 

  1. DESCRIPTION OF SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES

 

Activity 1 :

Hierarchical management of agile teams

1- Description

  • Manage 2 to 3 teams working on different technologies and scopes.
  • Challenge their organization, whether local or international, to adapt it to achieve objectives and optimize it.
  • Ensure the proper allocation of resources entrusted to them to guarantee the required processing capacity in projects.
  • Manage human resources in terms of talent detection/retention, skills management/career trajectories.
  • Evaluate individual and collective performance and identify potential.
  • Unite their teams and develop collaboration and engagement around the collective by creating a work environment conducive to initiatives.
  • Develop versatility through knowledge sharing or training/support plans and organize the distribution of these skills, including across international multi-sites, to ensure the best efficiency during projects.
  • Share and communicate the company's strategy and best practices and disseminate management messages to their teams.
  • Empower their collaborators and unite them around the objectives to be achieved.
  • Ensure the proper integration of new collaborators.

2- Challenges

  • Enable the smooth progress of development projects according to the initially planned schedule.
  • Ensure the right level of versatility to avoid the phenomenon of critical resources being unique.
  • Participate in the technological advancement of the company, maintain technical interest for the teams, and create a performance gap compared to competitors.
  • Maintain engaged, effective teams that achieve defined objectives and create expected value.

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Maintain the level of technical and functional competence suitable for the projects to be carried out, retain good profiles, and if necessary, propose and implement necessary retention actions.

Activity 2

Monitoring the technical and functional performance of the teams

1- Description

  • Regularly monitor the progress of projects or studies for which they are responsible, within their business scope.
  • Set up and monitor a dashboard composed of relevant indicators to facilitate reporting to the Research & Development management and objectify the individual and collective performances of their teams.
  • Challenge the operational organization of the team and processes as needed.
  • Identify/anticipate blocking points in the teams' missions and support them in proposing specific action plans to maintain collective performance.
  • Report to their management any blocking points they are unable to address as soon as they are identified.
  • Be receptive to improvement proposals made by their collaborators, evaluate them, and implement them if they make sense.
  • Support their teams or project stakeholders to avoid wasting time or implementing unsuitable solutions.

  • Reduce costs generated by low-value-added activities and avoid wasting resources.
  • Obtain collective commitment from the teams.
  • Develop cooperation and collaboration.

Activity 3 :

Ensuring the dynamics of continuous improvement and business transformation

1- Description

  • Share and give meaning to the company's strategy and help the teams understand how their work contributes to the broader mission of the company.
  • Anticipate organizational, operational, and technological changes and support employees during these changes.
  • Facilitate the understanding and application of processes and decisions from management and ensure good information flow.
  • Communicate and represent the interests of their teams to stakeholders when requested.
  • Report observed dysfunctions and propose areas for improvement.
  • Lead/participate in improvement initiatives within the company and get involved in their implementation through feasibility studies and deployment within their teams.
  • Propose developments in development methodologies, participate in enriching the theoretical and methodological aspects of Research & Development services.
  • Propose tools and methods suitable for the work environment to improve productivity, quality, final cost, and environmental and societal impact.
  • Contribute to the management community's reflections on good managerial and operational practices and implement them within the scope.
